Serving the Tri-Valley amateur radio community since 1959.
1959
The Inception
The Livermore Amateur Radio Klub (LARK) was officially incorporated on July 30, 1959, as a nonprofit association. At that time, 94 individuals gathered with a shared interest in amateur radio and a commitment to serving their community during emergencies.
1961
Going Mobile
By the end of 1961, the Klub had secured enough stable funding to purchase a small used house trailer. Fitted with donated surplus materiel, it became our very first mobile communications center. Over the years, members overhauled multiple surplus generators to keep the station powered.
1965
The Nike Missile Site
The old trailer was replaced with a larger unit to house growing activities. This equipment was installed and operated at the old Nike Missile site on East Avenue in Livermore. Shortly after, a surplus 1½-ton van truck was acquired, and a complete 80-thru-2 meter station was installed to provide great flexibility for field events.
2026
A New Website for LARK
LARK launched a completely rebuilt website, making it easier than ever for members and the public to find newsletters, event schedules, and club leadership information — modernizing how the Klub connects with its community for the next era of amateur radio.
Today
Tri-Valley Coverage
For over two decades, LARK managed repeater operations on Mt. Diablo, providing excellent coverage for Northern California. Today, LARK continues this legacy by operating multiple highly-situated repeaters to ensure reliable communications across the Tri-Valley for both public service events and critical emergencies.
